This company is a leading developer and manufacturer of pharmaceutical products to pharma, biotech, and medical device companies around the world.
THE POSITION
The Chief Financial Officer will provide leadership and direction to the organization to profitably execute the Company’s growth strategy. The CFO will be instrumental in all financial and business planning activities including accounting and controls, financial analysis and planning, risk and asset management, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, pricing, tax, audit and working capital management. The CFO will bring value to business strategy and execution, aligning the Company’s finance and business objectives. The CFO will also play a leading analytical role in M&A and business development initiatives. Major responsibilities include:
Provide operational leadership and broad technical capabilities to work collaboratively with the executive team and provide direction, analysis, and oversight to ensure revenue growth and margin expansion for the business.
Lead, plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization’s fiscal function and performance.
Oversee and direct treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate, long range forecasting, and insurance activities for the organization.
Establish a direct relationship with the CEO, board of
directors, and owners based on strong financial acumen and intimate underst
Build and reinforce analytical rigor in the Company. Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization. Develop analytics and financial analysis for other decision makers in the organization, so as to provide insight and context for operating and financial decisions. Develop and monitor key performance metrics for the business.
Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide business leaders and to highlight potential areas of improvement.
Ensure optimal utilization of capacity and financial resources. Develop goals and objectives with key leaders in the organization, and monitor performance accordingly. Establish internal systems that create accountability and contemplate contingency plans.
Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the CEO, the Board and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities.
Enhance, implement and enforce policies and procedures (accounting and other) of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the Company and will protect the Company’s assets.
Responsible for the organization’s risk management functions.
Supervise working capital position and trends. Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
Monitor and appraise the organization’s financial and liquidity position and issue regular reports on organization’s financial stability, liquidity, and growth.
THE INDIVIDUAL
Above all, the CFO will be an outstanding leader with strong financial acumen, and will become a true business partner to the CEO. Responsibilities include:
Minimum five (5) year experience as a CFO in a $50M+ pharmaceutical or CRO/CMO pharma services business. Previous or current manufacturing experience required.
Deep understanding and extensive experience with entrepreneurial yet financially leveraged companies. Experience working with private equity owners is ideal.
Experience working with multiple constituencies in a capital structure (including ‘club financing’ with more than one lender).
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage the budgeting/forecasting function.
Experience working with management information systems and information technology issues, and working knowledge of computerized integrated accounting systems.
Direct experience interacting with operations managers, combining actual operating experience with corporate level finance experience.
Familiarity with capital markets and expertise in M&A, ideally from deal initiation to execution and integration.
Hands-on mentality and ability to work with a small finance team.
Public company experience a plus but not mandatory.
CPA required; M.A., C in F, MBA preferred.
