THE COMPANY  

Located in Chicago, this company is a $2B independent manufacturer with 9 Manufacturing facilities throughout North America.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the IT department, this person will lead the SAP implementation for the Supply Chain.  This $4.5mm SAP implementation is approaching Stage 3 and covers 9 US plants.  This position is one of the most critical jobs in the company today, as this project will improve product planning and operations in all plants.  This person will manage the implementation and the outside consulting firm, and oversee a team of 3-4 people.  A successful implementation will likely result in a $20mm reduction in inventory costs, so the spotlight is on this role to make it successful.  Following are key responsibilities for the position:

·         Consult with users and senior business management and external contacts to identify and prioritize development and system needs and requirements, develop plans to ensure alignment with department and organizational needs.  Create and encourage cross-functional relationships.

·         Ensure that SAP technical activities (e.g. SAP module configuration) maximizes the use and adoption of standard SAP solutions and minimize the ongoing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for maintenance and upgrade of the SAP solution.

·         Proactively insure the planning/design, develop/configure, test, debug and document applications to provide users with an enhanced ability to respond to their business needs.

·         Develop computer systems, either with configuration, modified programs, or reuse of existing code through the use of program development software alternatives.

·         Conduct detailed analysis of all defined systems specifications for changes in system and/or business requirements, or system configurations.  Prepare flowcharts and diagrams, such as process flow diagrams, to illustrate sequence of steps program must follow and describe logical operations involved.

·         Provide both short and long term planning on individual projects; complete project plan and/or work request plan documents.

·         Ensure project implementation and completion meet objectives (on time; on budget; on spec).

·         Manage multiple, complex tasks, analyze complex programs and business systems issues, and work effectively with all levels of business management; effectively lead cross-functional groups to achieve Information Technology plans and goals.

·         Communicate with users and IT associates regularly to keep them informed of requests, progress, and status.

·         Develop and implement new tools or systems, which cost effectively meet the needs of the business community.  Assist in the research and discovery of new technologies that could be used to improve business processes.

·         Troubleshoot for problems and work across boundaries to ensure problems are resolved.

THE INDIVIDUAL

This person will be a proactive project manager who can take ownership of the Supply Chain piece of the SAP implementation.  He/she will provide process leadership and bring business knowledge and continuity to the project.  Candidates must be strong leaders who can function between the application development group and the business leaders.  Ideal candidates have the following experience:

·         Minimum of 5+ years of SAP SCM (Supply Chain Management) and APO (Advanced Planner and Optimizer) experience with SAP version ECC 5.0 or later.

·         Experience of at least one full life cycle implementation of each SCM and APO and experience in dynamic support environment.

·         Thorough understanding of integration amongst core SAP modules.

·         Configuration and system design experience in all SCM modules with PP, MM and WM areas and APO including demand and supply planning, fulfillment and procurement.

·         In depth knowledge of Supply Chain strategy, sales and operations planning processes, supply chain planning processes (Demand and Supply Planning including Master Production Scheduling and Distribution Planning), supply chain performance management, Inventory Management, Transportation processes and management systems, warehousing processes and management systems.

·         Basic understand of ABAP programming.

·         Experience in variant configuration environment and process industry is preferred.

·         Manufacturing industry experience.

·         SAP or APICS Certification a plus.

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems.

·         Legally eligible for employment in the United States.
