Ted Martin is the Founder and CEO of Martin Partners L.L.C, a leading retained executive search firm.  Throughout his twenty plus years as a recruiter, he has been instrumental in building senior management teams from the Fortune 500 to start-ups.  The New Career Makers ranked him as the number one recruiter for venture capital portfolio companies.  He is a Co-Founder and past Chairman of The Alliance Partnership International, a consortium of retained search firms from twenty-three countries across the world.  Ted is also a speaker on leadership and executive trends, including: McKinsey & Co.’s CEO Forum, Electronic Commerce World, United Airlines/Hemisphere Magazine, Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, Kellogg Alumni presentations, Financial Executives Institute and 6FigureJobs.com Seminar Series.  He has presented to numerous senior management teams of private and public corporations.

 

Ted has been a Board Member of the Alliance for the Great Lakes, Association of Executive Search Consultants (AESC), Chicago Architecture Foundation, Kellogg Alumni Council, and the Washington & Lee Alumni.  He is a past Chairman of the USTA Northshore Pro Tennis Committee, and was a Co-Founder of the Marcy Newberry Auxiliary Board and the St. Gregory’s School for Boys Council.  Ted is also a member of The Economic Club, Illinois Venture Capital Association, Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, and Indian Hill Country Club.  He has received the Kellogg Alumni Service Award, the Washington & Lee Learning, Leadership, and Honor Award, and the NSSRA Special Recognition Award.  He was Co-Chairman of his 25th class reunion at W&L and Kellogg, and a member of the Kellogg Centennial Committee.

Prior to starting his career in executive search, he held positions in brand management with Wilson Sporting Goods Company and Kraft General Foods.  He holds a B.A. from Washington & Lee University and an M.B.A. from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management.  He is an active youth sports coach and is the author of Exposing Leadership: Redefining the Top 20 Leadership traits (available on Amazon.com). This book was written for aspiring General Managers in the corporate world, and is based on his insights from executive search.
